For those of you who do not know who Jordan is....... he is our outside cat. Jordan has been with Don for at least 10-11 years; although neither of know which. "Jordan McGordan is the nickname, my neice, Melanie gave him while visiting this past summer. Yep, it sort of stuck. Anyways, if you would think some positive thoughts today for him, we would greatly appreciate it. You see, Don discovered a lump on the outside of Jordan's throat after Jordan had dug it up. A visit to our vet confirmed our worst fears...... a tumor. Jordan is ungoing surgery today; it began at 11:00 and we won't hear from the vet until 3 p.m. In our hearts, we both are wishing him well.
To keep my mind busy, I created this circle book today. I've been desiring to create one and receiving the thicker circle coasters from Smokey Bones --- provided me the opportunity to play!

Recent Happenings.........
Don & I spent the better part of the day yesterday cleaning house. He pitched in making the bed, starting and keeping two loads of laundry going, running the sweeper, ect. while I tackled cleaning out the kitchen cuphoards, refrigerator, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning our living room and bath. Don made several errands, paid bills, and got the Jeep into the shop to have the hood latch and cable replaced, so no more struggling to open it and fighting to get it shut again. We really could use a newer vehicle, however, it simply isn't in our fianances at the moment, so we will probably drive the wheels off of it! LOL, yes, pun intended in light of our recent flat tire.
It has been so hot here, high 90's, and no sign of relief today either. AC is and has been running full blast --- just like us. We ventured to the grocery store, return home to put everything away; Don whipped us up some cheeseburgers while I packaged meat for freezing and salads to eat later in the evening. I even made some coleslaw; ended up with too much so half was taken to my parents for them to enjoy! Returned home to simply chill out, Don napped while I watched a movie. Around 9 p.m. we headed out to the rear deck to spend some quiet time in the hot tub. It is set at a cool 98 degrees and felt great. Candlelight surrounding the deck set a romantic mood however the highlight was seeing big, beautiful white fireworks our neighbors set off! Great way to end the day!
I haven't really worked on any new art lately, well, other than painting some circle coaster the Chris, Michelle, and I picked up at Smokey Bones the evening of the June 30th after attending the EP House of Cards Exhibit. I am really not liking them so I will probably cover them with some paper. I did print off some images and text to use on them a few days back, wondering if I printed enough I quickly realized knowing me, I over did it! Somehow while printing, I forget about the embellishments that will be added. I've been desiring to create a round, circle book for some time --- just hadn't planned on starting it quite so soon.
I've had some good intentions to get back into the studio to re-organize again. The heat isn't co-operating so I'm simply doing a little at a time there. Believe me when I say it is in total chaos!
My goal is to one day have everything in its place, Dremel Drill Press set up so I can create books faster, my easel set up for a place to play with my acrylics and altered books........ ahhh, a girl can dream!

On the Road Again........
We head on up Route 30W to Rt. 69S on into Fort Wayne, Ind. where we spot some sign for a Lincoln Muesum. Thinking it is something we'd love to check out further, into Fort Wayne we venture.
Can you imagine our surprise and amazment, when we travel into Ft. Wayne to discover "Mastodons on Parade"!!!! {I placed a link above but here it is again, in case you missed it: http://photos.aroundfortwayne.com/Attractions/Mastodons_on_Parade.htm
Such beauty! Lining the passage of Clinton Street through Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, is the parade of Mastodons. There are 47 of the 102 Mastodons lining the street for viewing. You may walk the Headwater Park's Clinton Parade for close-up viewing So, we head up to Headwaters Park, where I just had to allow the child within me play in the children's fountain dance and sing while running through the cool water. Yes, I'm 44 yrs. old, however, I simply could not resist! Don laughed and enjoyed the process with me.

Aren't these just the coolest! For $20 Don and I rented one of the Model T Bicycles and rode the 2.5 mile trial through Headwaters Park. We viewed the 47 Mastodons, crossed Clinton St. to view the opposite side of the road of Headwaters Park along the St. Mary's River, stopped to talked with another couple, the woman from Ft. Wayne and the man from OH, beautiful flowers, paved footpaths and trails, gorgeous landscaping filled with florals and an under the road bridge completed our adventure. We will definately be visiting Fort Wayne again, this time during the week so we can visit the Art Museum, Firefigher's Museum, and various activities. What else can you do on a tankful of gasoline and all for less than $100.00 ?
What a way to renew one's sense of spirit! :)

Don and I decided a road trip was in order for Sunday. Beautiful weather, blue sunny skies, time to talk and reconnect with each other as we often head out the door with the Jeep gassed up, a cooler of refreshments and often, no particular destination in mind. Yesterday was one of those days!
We decided "Head West" was the theme of the day, believing we'd drive to Lima, OH for a late lunch/early dinner. Upon arriving in Lima, neither of us yet too hungry, we drove West some more. Coming up to the first Fort Wayne, Indiana exit # 25, we decide to venture in to see what awaits us to discover.
True to form, our adventure began with a rear driver's side flat tire as we exit the ramp! Upon coasting slowly to a safe edge of the roadway, we stop. Exit the vehicle, drag out the necessary tools and supplies, along with the spare tire and proceed to change the flat. Both of us were totally taken off guard when we quickly realized our 4 way would not change the metal self-tightening lug nut caps. So down comes the jack, tools and spare go back into the Jeep as we prepare to trek the quarter mile down the road to a Meijer's to purchase the tools we need, when suddenly an angel appears in the form of a nice young man who has a jack and a 4 way that fits! Brian, the greatest thing we've seen since sliced bread, helped Don and I change the tire, made certain we were ready to go again; accepts our heartful "Thank You's" so graciously, and declines our offer to pay him for his services. We promised in our travels, we would offer assistance --- which we do anyways, to other "stranded travelers." What comes around goes around, certainly applied here.
So now, we are HOT! It was at least 90 degrees, sunny, not a cloud in the sky, and we spent at least a half-hour changing the flat over to the spare. We drive down the road to the Meijer's we previously planned to hike to, to put air in the spare as it hadn't been used in so long. Neither of us were prepared for what happened next. Directly across the road is a Super WalMart, with you guessed it, a Tire Center! So over we go, to get the flat looked at. Luckily, it can be fixed and while waiting we walked to a Golden Corral and Buffet for a nice steak but more importantly, a tall, cold iced tea and air conditioning! While we enjoy our dinner, our spare is being changed back to the original tire; allowing us some peace of mind. We start making a list of items we'll need as we make our way to visit my brother, John, who lives in Charlotte, NC for our vacation plans in September. Upon returning to WalMart to pay for the services, we purchase a 2 ton jack, and a 4 way that fits!

European Papers House of Cards Exhibit 2005
Christine, Michelle, and I arrived at EP without any problems. The House of Cards Exhibit was absolutely awesome! Entering the lower gallery we arrive to discover over 500 ATC’s received in response to the call from over 50 countries. The ATC’s where hung in baseball card sleeves from what appear to be conduit pipes, the upper places of the display filled with blanks and an occasional placed information card to assist with finding ATC’s submitted for those attending the event. We browsed the exhibit, amazed at the diversity of ATC’s submitted, designs, themes, and all out anything goes in themes and style. After viewing we headed upstairs to the studio portion of EP drawing sign-ups, an ATC trading session, and refreshments. We shopped a little and I managed to spend $42 on additional supplies.

What a Wild, Wonderful, and Wacky Weekend!
This weekend was filled with wild and wonderful things for Don & I. Some we did together and one event I attended with friends. Our weekend started off Friday evening with a dinner at Perkins where we dined on whitefish prior to going to our local Moose #889 here in Marion. We visited with friends I haven’t seen in a while, listened and danced to a band who I cannot for the life of me remember their name ---- and the possibility of having one too many margaritas on the rocks!
Saturday early afternoon started off a little rough for me, LOL! I awoke to Don having already left for work and a handwritten note from him loving placed beside my computer. He is so in sync with my “morning routine” coffee, cigarette, and computer”. Anyways, reading his hand letter notes always leaves a smile on my face, so full of him, his thoughtfulness, loving, and caring ways. Here is a sampling of those “love letters” I collect… “7/31/05 {yes, he dates them – reminds me of the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler ;)} Morning Baby, Just wanted to tell you how much I love you! Went to pay Phone Bill. Love You!” Repeat Reams {a nickname I lovingly gave him this week after a little annoyance of repeating things to him after he says, “Who, What, Huh?” to which I kindly replied “You talkin’ to me?” It became a personal joke between the two of us, hence the nickname “Repeat Reams”. His P.S. in my letter, “Call me later. Your cell phone has a full charge.”
This is just one of the little things that he does that makes him so adorable! Always thinking of me and taking care of my needs, regardless of how small they seem. He goes out of his way to make my life easier. Now that is so kind and considerate. Saturday, he was aware that I would be attending European’s Paper House of Cards Exhibit along with Christine and Michelle later in the afternoon.
I dragged myself out of bed, immediately taking a Prevacid to calm my churning stomach, coffee to assist me get my act together, some time spent on the computer to ease into my into the day. A slice of toast without butter and a glass of milk help absorb the one too many margarita I drank last night and to re-hydrate my body. A few telephone calls later to both Chris and Michele to final our travel plans, I searched desperately for my ATC’s for trade. Finally, finding them, I get my bath and proceed with getting out of the door. Michele arrived shortly before 4 p.m. and we met up Chris at her job for the Marion division of the Prospect Library before heading down to European Papers.
