A relaxing evening....

Don and I had dinner at the Hometown Buffet. I love eating there, it doesn't break the bank and I can pick and choose some healthier foods as I am trying to lose some of the weight that I've gained back since I'm not working outside the home currently. {that is one area of my life that is subject to change in the future}. Anyways, I ate right and was proud of myself. Hey, I even drank my two 8 oz. of water, one before and one after my meal!

From there we ventured into Crate & Barrel to browse. I wanted to see if I could find a larger vase for my kitchen but had no such luck. The ones they had weren't simply what I had in mind so I skipped that purchase but I did managed to find something cool. A two tiered candlabra that slips around a patio umbrella for our patio table on our rear deck. Don and I spend a lot of time there in the summer evenings and this was a perfect addition. I also discovered a 6" square plate in an oriental theme but the colors would work with the idea I had in mind for it. Some time ago, Don had purchased for me a small tabletop fountain shaped like stacked river rock and inscribed with the verse, "rain is the music of the garden". I love it for it's Zen-like quality and am now thinking I could utilize it in my studio near my office area. (Lord knows, I'm certain that there will be those times I could use a good dose of that while working there.) Back to what I was saying about the plate, is I'd been searching for the perfect one for a while and the one at Crate & Barrel will fit the bill nicely. {I can almost envision that fountain sitting on that beautiul square plate surrounded by more river rock pebbles and hear the tranquility of the flowing water now. Ahhh, ever so peaceful!}

Another inexpensive purchase was two approximately 2 1/2" wooden sticks with candles in a zen-like green wax shaped like bamboo candle sticks. I loved them as soon as I saw them. Although, not the theme I was striving for on our rear deck, they'd still make a welcome addition, so into our hands two of them went. Upon arriving back home, cramped from the trip and having to ride home sitting sideways, LOL, I was even more excited to discover that they were citronella scented; great for keeping the mesquitos at bay. Don assisted me with setting up the candlabra around the umbrella post on the patio table and we managed to get all the small tealight candles into the 8 votives lighted with only one burn incident. I placed the bamboo stick candles down into a pot of dirt to stablize them and as it turned dusked we drank a couple glasses of cold water as we relaxed there, returning telephone calls we'd missed. As the daylight turned to twilight we lite all the candles on the rear deck and settled into the hot tub to relax. We turn the temperature down some in the summer months, so it is a similar experience of soaking in a bathtub of warm, just above body tempature of water. So relaxing and tranquil, the perfect way to round out the day. {and something I should do more often!}

Oh, and before I forget to mention it. Yes, my shopping purchases for the studio office did make it to the studio. I took the entire package out right after fiddling with the candles. I'm excited just knowing that it is there waiting on me and that I now have the necessities I need to get to work on Monday after the house is straighten up from our week and weekend adventures. That is the perfect motivation I need to keep me going on the path of where I want to be, agree?
