CED ~ 2008 - Connecting....

I forgot to mention that I've finally found the perfect box for storing some of my art journaling supplies! I so love this map covered, leather-trimmed briefcase that I discovered while at Home Goods. It's perfect in every way..... for storing some of my supplies while at home and amazing for grabbing to take along with us on our travels or even if I should ever decide just to take a walk to a local park. I've been desiring to have something along these lines for several years now, so when I saw this, I knew in my heart that the time had come. Here's a pic of it laying closed on my coffee table, although the photo above shows more of the beautiful details.

As you can see, I've already began to start filling it. So far it contains a leather journal for writing, a wire bound sketchbook, some die-cuts that I love, a few pens, pencils, an eraser, pencil sharpener, an alphabet stamp set, black ink pad, binder clips, some tags, and a small box of sticky adhesives.

I'm hoping, after I finish the Row House swap, to gather up some of my charcoal pencils, my Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens, my Cotman watercolor compact, watercolor pencil tin, a pair of small scissors, some paper scraps, glue stick, water brush and a container for water. I also will enclose some glassine and vellum envelopes, along with some paper ones for some of the found objects I discover along the way. Of course, I'm going to need some sort of a pencil case and a way to prevent squishing my acrylic rubber stamps but I know I'll come up with something!

I worked in the sketchbook for a little while last night. I completed the first six pages with my personal info, how this all came to be, what I hope to achieve while using this traveling art case, some of the supplies I've already included, along with a list of those I want to add.

The last page I created was a prismacolor pencil sketch of Lake Erie where Don and I took a road trip to yesterday. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day so I recorded that and the temp of 88 degrees, the route we took to get there, a sketch of the Lake, some seagulls, etc. In fact, it was on this trip that we stopped into Pat Catan's in Sandusky, Ohio and purchased some of the supplies I've enclosed. I believe I'll print off some of these pictures showing the supplies inside the case, create a list of what I purchased there. I think it will be fun to see how this traveling journal case evolves as I add to it over time. Perhaps, I can work on that page soon...

Today's agenda is cleaning our home. We've sort of been off and on and on the go, so our home is showing some signs of neglect that I can rectify fairly quickly! Thankfully, it isn't too bad and with a few hours of love and tenderness it will become clean once again. I believe I'll cook us up a good home cook meal and tonight, we'll be running out to Office Depot. I've got to get the images for the Row House Swap printed up --- my Row house shape is ready for them to be added and then its only a matter of adhering things down. Guess I should go and get things going, but I'll update again soon! {*smiles and waves*}
