Having been a bit neglectful of the homefront, spending time with Chaos, family and friends, ect. I took the day off yesterday to catch up with some chores, cooked a homemade meal of spaghetti, spend some time with Don, Amber, Chris, and Alexxis, along with taking care of myself --- bathing, shaving, and personal grooming. My eyebrows needed touched up after me recently having them waxed along with my new haircut and colored highlights. I definately could use a good manicure and pedicure as well, but decided to save that for yet another day and a welcome break from working.
In the early evening, Don and I went out and did a little bit of shopping. I really needed to purchase a few new clothes, mainly some new shirts --- as I normally am a jeans and T-shirt girl, and some of my T's have definately seen their better days. I either manage to get them stained up or after some repeat washing they shrink. Not good for me as I am between misses sizes of a Med. and Large; some Large and XL's depending upon the manufacturer and the department I'm shopping in. Yes, I can still shop in the Junior's departments because I love the style of clothing offered and being a size 11/12, I can still get by with it! Their clothes styles work well for me as I really prefer the junior looks, yes, even at 45 and the fact that I am now a grandma, LOL! I'm petite in height so can pull that look off well, even though that is about it in the petiteness issue. Sometimes, I loathe clothes shopping but not as much as I loathe shopping for shoes!!! What? Did you hear me right? Yes, you did! I have the god-awfulist time shopping for shoes. Why? A size 5 foot! ok, pair of feet! I can fit into some girls size 4/5's; women's size 5, 5 1/2, and sometimes a 6. One thing in the clothing industry is that no two manufacturer's seem to use the same size patterns, LOL!
I purchased one T'shirt at Goody's.... and left wondering why I waste my time there. I'm in between sizes and their items always seem to run a bit on the small size, so even if I grab up an armful of clothes to try on, I somehow only manage to find 1 or 2 items that I actually like on me. Two tops I tried have that built in shelf bra, I cannot handle the way the rub me, make me feel like I'm too confined. So, one oversized T was it! {without the shelf bra!}
Next, we decided to drive to Delaware to the Maurice's store there. Maurice's is another store I love! Some of the reasons is that Maurice's clothing line is beginning to realize that not everyone is a size XS! After trying on several tops, I found two chamisole's created vintage style and I found two that I loved on me. Anyone who shops for clothing probably knows what I am saying there! What looks great on a hanger, looks totally different on. One was pink the other a spring green both with a soft print. Casual enough, easily dressed down or up.
I had picked up another top and aqua cap sleeve with lower neckline and a complete lace over with lace ties that tie in the back. I loved the color and the softness of it and after trying it on, I discovered I really loved it! That top was not something that I'd normally try on or even pick up for that matter, but it fit me beautifully and looked great on, too; so that top quickly became one of my favorites. It will look great with either khaki or black capri's or a pair of soft grey dress slacks but is a bit too dressy for some of my distressed blue jeans, LOL! Afterwards, I tried on 2 spaghetti strap tanks and decided to purchase them too, just to have something to putz around in outside the home for everyday attire.
At least now I have some clothing that fits, doesn't look like owned it for far too long, and some that I'll feel comfortable enough in showing a little bit of skin without revealing too much and not allowing to leave anything to one's imagination.
While I had my hair done recently, Rita and I had a wonderful discussion regarding fashion and body styles, and fashion styles. I didn't realize that others would look up to me in a fashion sense before until she informed me she loved my clothing style and had noticed that I was dressing in fun, casual fashion despite my age. Not that I am old, by any means; just older, more mature-r, LOL! She gave me some food for thought regarding my clothing tastes and made me realize, that we are truly as young as we feel. I definately believe our choices in clothing should reflect that, at least to some extent.
It was great to have a distraction from all my hard work and the progress I've been making lately. As long as I don't create an excuse out of it and return to following my dreams, I don't see it as a problem. {*wink}
