In giving an outlet voice to what once were only thoughts and ideas contained within the confined space of my head, I was able to clarify some of the obstacles within my path and to begin to brainstorm some ways around them. Bringing them out into the light of the day will certainly help me as I embark on this journey. Not only did I realize the obstacles, I realized a lot of the strengths and knowledge that I posses. I gave voice to some of my fears and realized that many others probably had the same fears that I am now facing but in facing them the learned how to overcome them! That thought was a true revelation for me!
So, here is where I am starting from. First and foremost on my increasingly long list of things to do to achieve my heart's desire:
- Organize my studio!
- Set up a proficient office area
- Begin working on creating some spreadsheets for submission opportunities and deadlines, as well as,
- Set up some spreadsheets to assist me on my journey.
I've made a list of everything that I will need to purchase. Organization containers, office supplies, computer inks, ect. and what I'll need as I continue in this direction. I've made a "to do list" in order of importance to me to assist me to not only clarify my goals, but to serve as a checklist as I complete them. I'm hopeful that in giving them a "born date" will also allow me to see the progress that I've made as I write in the dates that I actually get each and everyone of them completed.
I've started some research... well, more research than I've previously done and am ready to revise my artist statement. I'm certain I'll update it often in the process of this journey but for now it will assist me in allowing myself to lay a foundation.
I've also began to think of what and where I'd like to see my artwork within my artist portfolio. I am envisioning what it will look like, both in type and in reality. I quickly realized that I've had the domain name of PartlyPaper.com reserved for over a year now, and what I originally hoped for and envisioned for it when it struck me that I can use my Powerpoint Presentation skills to create my portfolio, both for a print version and one for an online version. Doing this will save me some necessary work later on as I strive to deveop my webite.
Thinking and considering all my options is assisting me in what calls and challenges I desire to answer and where I'd like to see the artwork that I am creating and in the way I'd to see it presented. This is providing me with more and more goals to strive for along the way, each one opening up the door to the next one and the door to my future.
Since I am desiring to embark on this journey, I thought perhaps that there are others out there who are desiring to begin with where they are at and who may also be desiring similar or same things for their lives. So, instead of simply putting a "ISO" only in my blog, I created a post on the Two Peas Stamping Community website searching for others who may be desiring an opportunity too. I'm uncertain of what may become of the thread, if there will be any interest or not, and I don't mind sharing thoughts and ideas, the entire process, as long as I'm spending too much time and get myself sidetracked in the process itself. Anyways, my post can discovered here: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=1813961
So far, to date of one hour later, there have been a few views but no actually replies but I figure I'll give it time, wait and see what may yet transpire and pray for some response, LOL! I'm not above sharing any knowledge that I have squirreled away inside this head of mine, the resources that I have at my fingertips, and resources that I've discovered online but I would expect some effort on the part of others to be sharing their thoughts, ideas, and experience as well. I just don't want to be "the leader" providing all the information for others and not learning from the experience myself! LOL! Lord knows, I can waste my own time right along with the best of them and that is not what this is about. It is about doing what I need to do to get where I desire to be! If I've someone to share with on that journey, it would be great! Hopefully, I received some replies........ One thing that I've definately learned in life is one of the best ways to learn is by teaching others and I'm hopeful that I may reach a few others who can teach me a thing or two! {smiles}
