Beryl Markham, once said,
“You can live a lifetime and,
at the end of it,
know more about other people than you know about yourself.”

When I read this, I thought to myself how sad is that? But so very often, so true. I believe we are by nature creatures of habits. Habits that keep us stuck in patterns that over time can limit our experiences of life. Once we begin to detect those pattern that we were once previously unconscious of, we can choose differently, if we desire. With that awareness comes new choices and with those choices, we gain an entirely new freedom.
I recently went through this myself when I realized just how much time I was spending on the computer and putting off the things in my life that I truly enjoy doing. Also, I wasn't doing any of the things that I desired to really do. Once I realized that being on the computer was fastly become a new habit, I chose to take the necessary steps to build me a new habit, even if I had to accomplish it a little at a time. I was amazed to discover that I am now happier than I have been in many, many weeks. I finding pride in my accomplishments vs. dreaming about doing them. I am now watching them begin to come to fruitation and not only providing me with joy, but sharing that new found joy with others. But most important of all of that,
I'm learning to know and love myself.... more and more and more. And for this, I'm grateful!
