Regarding the recent opportunity, crops, and classes

I've been thinking over the recent opportunity of renting the consignment space from Rita. I know that I'd love to do this so I've been making a list of my thoughts, ideas, and items we'll need to address together. I originally intended to try to met with her to discuss this further in a two week timeframe, but seeing how the studio re-organization is taking me longer than I originally anticipated, I believe I'm going to met with her and discuss this with her bit more before I take the plunge.

I believe that if we can come to agreement to do a launch in September, I'll be more successful. As Autumn begins to roll around, mine and other peoples lives are beginning to slow down; gone is the hustle and bustle, the running, and all the flurry of activity that summer brings. I'm thinking that between now and then, I'll be able to work and create more items for sale, some up to date class examples, and re-assess some of the classes I'd like to offer and those which I've the supplies on hand to tackle at that time.

Other classes that I'd love to teach will require me to purchase more supplies in order to have enough on hand for others to re-create and in all honesty, I'm not in a great position financially to do all that without knowing there will be enough interest generated to actual pay me back for that investment. Another factor is one of the wholesale suppliers that I'm hoping to deal more directly with changes their stock frequently, so I'll need to know what is on hand so I can gear my classes more to a project driven class with techniques thrown in. I'd love to be able to do this successfully enough that the class participants are receiving a few things from the classes: a completed project, techniques learned in the class that they'll have handouts to re-create it on their own afterwards, and be able to include some of the supplies to them. Of course, that means two things: a higher fee for the class and a bit more work for me but I believe it will make my classes and open studio times a bit more successful. There are several advantages to offering the supplies: one, I won't accumulate more supplies to have to store and secondly, I may be able to offer them at 75% of the retail cost if purchase the day of the class.

Another aspect that I considered, is that I've enough autumn decor and Christmas decor on hand to set up a beautiful display around my artwork. Something simple, not to distracting that would accent my artwork and items for sale in their best light. By doing this, it will give me some time to obtain various other display items, work on them, and I should know just how much interest there actually is in the crops and classes I'm hopeful to have here putting me in better control of the situation. Anyways, just some thoughts and ideas for me to consider. Well, all this talk and too little action isn't getting me where I hope to be, so its off to work for this artist! Hopefully, I'll get more accomplished today and come up with other ideas and thoughts for future consideration. {*love, laughter, and smiles}
