I took the day off from the studio re-organization yesterday and spent most of my time cleaning house, cooking, and trying to get in a nap.
What is about a nap that other people don't seem to understand? Do they have a built in radar that tells them so-and-so is trying to sleep and/or catch a few winks? It's funny how that seems to work around here. I had no sooner laid down and "a friend" {any yes, I use that term loosely...} I haven't heard from in eons decides to telephone us, out of the blue, supposedly just to see what I or we have been up to. Nevermind the fact that over the last year I've probably heard from this particular person a total of 4-5 times and over the years I learned this normally means that he/she/it desire Don or I to do something for them. Now let me issue a disclaimer, I'm not totally against people helping people as long as the road is a two way street. It is when it gets to the point of "what can you do for me?" that I have a problem with it. Unfortunately, one of the callers isn't or hasn't ever been on that street, it has always been a "what can you do for me" relationship that I've long moved passed and out of, deciding I don't want to play the user and loser game anymore. For one, I don't play "headgames" and do not get into the "let me knock you down, so I can stand on your back to make myself look good" type of scenerio and have learned the hard way {Yes, I am a graduate from the school of hard knocks!} that this is how this so-called "friend" operates. Anyways, to make a long story short, let's just say I humored her and gently said, "There's nothing we can do."Afterwards, all thoughts of getting a nap vanished suddenly, POOF!, and gone with the wind.
Not having a whole lot of energy both from the lack of sleep and the additional emotional drain, I decided to surround myself with people I love. So, Don and I paid a visit to Amber and Chris, spent an enjoyable day there relaxing and helping out with Alexxis and a dinner.
Alexxis is growing by leaps and bounds; trying her damnest to communicate. It is so precious to watch her, especailly when she lets us know we are doing something right by smiling. The entire room seems to light up. Okay, it's probably just grammie's heart, but we'll leave at that. {grin} Unfortunately, in my rush to get out of here before the telephone rang again, I didn't grab my camera so I've no new pictures to share.
We returned home shortly after 8 p.m. when my Mom and Dad dropped in. We had a short and enjoyable visit with them before the returned home.
