CED ~ 2008 - Just a beautiful day!

The temperatures here in Ohio yesterday were in the high 70's, sort of creeping into the high 80's in the late afternoon, before cooling down to an overnight low into the high 50's. Since we needed to take a road trip and with the gasoline prices being what they are, we decided to make a day of it, enjoying both nature and the weather along the way!

After running a few errands, doing a bit of shopping , stopping for a nice, quiet lunch, neither Don or I were quite ready to return home. So, we took an alternate route to enjoy one of Ohio's beautiful state parks, Alum Creek.

Our first drive was by the beach were a lot of people were enjoying the day and the water. We, ourselves have enjoyed that beach a time or two, but it felt a bit too crowded for us so we made our way on down the road to where the State Park's office is located.

Behind the stone and rustic looking modern office, there is this gorgeous pond, where we stopped to sit, to listen to the sounds of nature, and filled our hearts and our eyes with its beauty.

Next, we traveled down the road a bit further, before coming upon the State Parks Campgrounds. We've never been here before, so we stopped at the Park's office, obtained a visitor's pass, and took a drive through. We were impressed by how clean the park was and the campsite's aren't too bad either.

As we drove, we discussed how very close to home this actually is and how it would make a nice, quiet, relaxing little getaway. One that wouldn't break the bank or dig into our pockets too much, once we figured in gasoline, food to eat, and things to do. We purchased a tent and an air mattress a few summer's ago, and sadly, we've put it to very little use, so we can envision us enjoying this for a day or two.
